RATS |
About RATS For more than a decade,
RATS has provided transportation for Rockbridge County residents.
The service began in 1995 as a vision of its founder, Joan Manley,
who felt there was a need for a public transportation service in the
area.
RATS transports passengers to medical and therapeutic appointments, to drugstores, workplaces, shopping, and to social activities. Rides are also available to regional medical centers in Roanoke, Charlottesville, and other locations. RATS provides on demand, door-to-door service by trained and certified drivers, using safe, reliable vehicles. Fares are very reasonable and the service provides an inexpensive alternative to costly taxi companies. RATS vans operate five days a week and travel more than 20,000 miles each month. RATS is a United Way agency and is supported by grants from local governments and foundations and by donations from the community. |
